My Story

I am Parihan Wyatt, the director and therapist of Brumby Equine Assisted Therapy. My journey with horses began through my daughter's passion for riding. Although I did not grow up with horses or any animals for that matter, I dedicated hours, weeks, months, and years to supporting my daughter's connection with her horse, Willow.

Willow, a gentle mare, faced numerous health challenges. What started as a minor issue gradually escalated into a series of obstacles. Some professionals even suggested that putting her to sleep was the best option. However, in my heart, this was never an option. I committed myself to nurturing her health and well-being. The experience of caring for Willow was something I never anticipated, especially with a non-human being. It became the most magical and profound experience of my life.

During this time, I realised and acknowledged the deep level of connection and attunement that exists between horses and humans. The bond I formed with Willow was akin to the connection I share with my two daughters. Our communication was based on honesty, trust, and vulnerability. During this process, unaware, Willow was also nurturing me through my journey of grief and loss.

This realisation ignited my passion for the emerging field of Equine Assisted Mental Health Therapy, where horses nurture individuals through relational connections. This form of therapeutic treatment creates a powerful and beautiful partnership that supports emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth. It provides an opportunity for individuals to gain deeper self-knowledge and bring it into their consciousness, fostering self-awareness and enhancing relationship skills.

Through Brumby Equine Assisted Therapy, I am privileged to work with horses and guide others on their journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The wisdom and intuition of these magnificent animals continue to inspire and amaze me, and I am honoured to share this transformative experience with others.
